Worst electrical company I ve e'er dealt with. I was then easy to talk me in with the bs "rates" which really alter based on how much you employ. What a ripoff! As presently as I done with them I don't want o ever hear near them. No reminders about your bills, and equally every professional person person who has a decorated lifestyle you forget sometimes to pay bills that are scheduled in the center of the month. I oasis't gotten a unmarried mail from them nor electronic mail nor a text message to remind me I have a by due bill. I estimate information technology is their little con to become it asunder and the accuse you $40 in disconnect/reconnect fees. "GOOD GOING"! Very ethical. I tried signing up for automatic payments just every time they tell me I have to talk to special department. I really talked to them once and supposedly they saved my information merely 2 months later - again - disconnection in centre of the 24-hour interval on a 100'F atmospheric condition. I would definitely NOT recommend them!

If in that location'south any way I tin can give them negative points, I will give them. I used Reliant services for almost a year. I barely used electricity and my beak every calendar month was $25-40. Fifty-fifty in mid summer of 100s temperature, I used to get $30-40 every month. Part of the reason was I was always traveling and I was never home to employ the electricity.

In Jan, I was home for 4 days and they billed me $123. I called them and questioned and they said that they can re-read the meter. They failed to arrange that neb and I ended up paying. Meanwhile, they were sending me emails to renew my contract. The following month, I was in Guatemala on work and I received an e-mail mentioning how last week my free energy usage was loftier. I hadn't been home for 2 weeks. I lived in very high security building in Houston, I had move cameras in my firm. I knew nobody had entered my flat so how could I be receiving high free energy usage email? I came back after 3 weeks and called Reliant and mentioned that I can provide them my airline tickets, Passport stamps to show I wasn't home and there had been a mistake. If they could re-read the meter and adjust my $190 neb (for February) that they sent me for using electricity.

Meanwhile, I had to move out for piece of work purposes out of state and I chosen and asunder the services and kept on trying to resolve this problem. They gave me a run around and instead of coming to a resolution, they sent my beak to collection without getting back with a resolution. I volition exist taking a case against them to client court. I have reported them to BBB and then this thing can be looked into and then, there are many others who have been victimized past this company can seek justice.

No 1 has lived in the property since I bought it iv months ago. My bill has been 10-20 dollars a month. No Air conditioning on and the only electricity being used was to paint and landscape. That stopped most a month ago. I got the pecker today and it was 210. Basically customer service said someone was stealing electricity or the meter was non working properly. They said I would have to call Texas/New United mexican states to dispute the accuse. If I take to practise everything to resolve the effect then why on earth do I demand to pay Reliant. I wish we could but purchase electricity from TNMP. Reliant is useless.... Thank the Lord I fired them!

I have been a Reliant customer for 5 years. I move 2 and then I noticed my energy bills increasing. I complained just reliant could do nothing. I turned off everything from the panel and signed upwardly to smarter meter Texas. Well the meter kept going center point. Said that there was nothing incorrect with the meter. My bill for 32 days just me. And I don't cook at home. I don't take washer and dryer at dwelling house. I don't utilise the dishwasher and I have a fireplace. I very seldom utilize the heater. My hot water heater is low on 120 degrees. My bill came out to $300 for 32 days. I cannot pay them. They are toll gouging me. And then I will permit them disconnect my lights considering if I pay them they will but send me another much college bill and then I am done with them.

My son and self moved into our ii bedroom ane bathroom house (less than 800sq ft) at the first of 2019, and our landlord recommended as Reliant as "one of the cheapest energy providers". I naively and blindly chosen Reliant to set up service. I spoke to a rude and uninformed woman (and the managing director who called me a calendar week afterward most my complaint about this representative was also rude and unprofessional) who sounded like she was taking my call in the middle of a daycare. After trying to make me pay a 500$ NON REFUNDABLE deposit, she was able to "come up" with a 75$ non refundable eolith option with their "Gratis Nights" scam - I mean program. She told me it would be 17 cents per kWh (because at the time my credit was on the lower side), and apace made me sign their east-documents earlier I had a risk to really read their terms of service. So I finalized the paperwork, and established service to our new dwelling house.

Firstly, a deposit because of lower credit should always be refundable if on time payments are fabricated by the customer, which mine were e'er paid early. Secondly, I was quoted and told 17c/kWh, but information technology was really 25 cents per kWh under the guise that my nights were costless. Thirdly, low credit should never mean a higher kWh price, and that is straight up taking advantage of a single mom who had fallen on temporarily hard times.

Later I received our first month's bill of 200$ for our teeny tiny home, I was a little worried, but non terribly so...until I steadily watched our electrical bill climb from 200, to 300, to over 400$ a month for our little home! We are free energy efficient, but not according to Reliant's lying app. We take all make new energy efficient windows, appliances, and LED light bulbs for every light fixture. Nosotros did laundry at nighttime during our "free hours", and nosotros kept the HVAC at 80 degrees in the summer and 60 degrees during the winter. Nosotros fifty-fifty had our water heater and HVAC serviced twice to run into if we had whatsoever problems to create such high bills. Nosotros had the insulation and home checked for any areas that could be causing a draft. Everything was in working order.

Since they had locked me into a 12 month contract with an early termination fee, we froze and sweat in the dark all year, only waiting for our sweet release from these con artists. Finally the mean solar day has come where we accept been freed from their overpriced clutches, and now have a greenish energy provider who has cut our electricity bill to a 3rd of what Reliant was charging usa! And gauge what? ZERO eolith. Stay far, far away from these deceptive, rude con artists. There a dozen other providers that are reliable, friendly and a third of the cost. I wish I had done my research sooner rather than later on (and that is my own error), but I am hoping by sharing my experience I can at least foreclose some innocents from being taken advantage of past this mega corporation. I will never use Reliant over again, and I will go on to warn every person I know and meet of their deceptive practices and ungodly pricing.

Like many of y'all here I was scammed past Reliant as well. Information technology may not be the same thing equally someone calling y'all trying to extort coin from y'all do to some "crime" you unknowingly supposedly committed, simply none-the-less a true corporate scam. Upward until December of 2019 I had been a Reliant customer for 10+ years. Back in the twenty-four hours $.09/Kwh was a practiced deal and understanding that over the years a slight increase was to exist expected nosotros were relatively happy with what we were paying.

Well, in Dec of 2017 I decided to switch over to the Average billing plan under the "now known misconception" that the program would simply assistance level out my electricity charges between the higher and lower months. The way they sell it is that you accept a more consistent monthly charge as the electricity employ fluctuates. That couldn't exist farther from the truth. Non but where the charges non consistent, they were becoming scary and nosotros'd go anxious thinking almost how high the side by side bill was going to be. I should take never made the switch.

The just affair that was consistent well-nigh the "Average" excuse me, I mean "Deferred" billing, was the much higher monthly pecker! Besides like most of you I called and asked questions when I was surprised the increased charges only to have them explicate some elaborate caption plain created by some onetime banker with a knack for screwing people over. Look, I'm a Sr. Software Engineer, if I tin can't sympathize it, then how the hell is someone who's non mathematically inclined going to understand it? And that's what they are "cyberbanking" on, pun intended.

Ok and so now that I'g done with my little rant, here are some numbers. I'll give a comparing between 2018 & 2019, in 2018 I was not on Deferred Billing, in 2019 I was. I'll also add that between the 2 years we did not take whatever major changes in the way nosotros consumed electricity and did not modify or replace whatever major appliances or air-conditioning/heating. At present the numbers....

Total Electricity Charges for the Yr
2018: $3,941.18
2019: $vi,451.91
Diff: $2,510.73

Incr: 63.70%

Average Monthly Bill
2018: $328.43
2019: $537.66
Diff: $209.23

Incr: 63.seventy%

The numbers speak for themselves. There is admittedly no reason that by joining a program to boilerplate out my monthly payments that my monthly payments would increment past 63.seventy%. I want to give thanks you if you've read this review and hopefully you read it earlier getting screwed over. If it helps i person avoid this corporate scam then writing it was more than than just venting.

I have been a customer of Reliant for many years, manifestly not a valued one. I had signed upwards for the Average Billing to help budget monthly expenses. When I had had enough of paying $0.nineteen/Kw, I decided to switch to another company. I received my last Reliant pecker and it was over $850! I called and they said that I had a deferred balance and it was due since I cancelled my service. Where did the 'deferred' even come from!?! They explained that "true" average billing was called "Counterbalanced Billing" and I was on "Boilerplate Billing" which accrues a deferred balance - What??? Needless to say, they would non work with me, I still owe the $850+ and am now looking for another provider.

I cancelled my Reliant account later my 1-year contract because I moved and found a cheaper, better choice. When I received my final bill in the mail service I promptly paid it. A few weeks later I received a red letter of the alphabet from them saying I owe them $50 even though the account was already paid in full. When I chosen to ask what the neb was for I was passed around and put on hold for over 45 minutes. The telephone call was over an hour and they refused to remove the fees and even got combative over the telephone indicating they were not at mistake and I had to pay. Unprofessional, unreliable, and rude visitor. Volition never utilise them again.

Left Reliant for 1 twelvemonth due to their unfair rates with existing customers. Had the same trouble with TXU, so I returned to Reliant in 12 months. Reliant refused to utilize previous account history to calculate average billing, despite stating on the website they utilize xi months previous history plus current month'south bill divided past 12. Their Customer Service staff and supervisors are either incapable or unwilling to perform bones math, and are unwilling, are incapable of articulating how the average billing is adamant. They farther refused to let me to switch providers without penalty despite their failure to honour their own published policy.

I was a Reliant client for one year switching from my previous energy provider. After 3 months the charges became extremely high and Reliant told me best to put me on a programme that will level out my monthly payments because I obviously didn't had a fixed program so they charged me the highest rate possible. I used about 3000kw monthly and the bills were running every bit high as $450. Later the contract was upward I decided to go out and they billed me $580 for the last calendar month - adding a "balance due from billing plan into it". I never had anything similar this happen with whatever other energy provider.

He tried to get me to change who sends my electric bill promising to remove the transmissions fees. I would not exist irresolute companies, but irresolute who bills me. I asked for a brochure, he said no. I asked for a business card, he said no. As we were talking, I saw my chump had been moved a picayune. I picked it up to straighten it out.... I tried to switch from Reliant to Life Energy. However, Reliant put in a motility-out order (which I was non doing nor said I was doing) which cancelled out the asking for Life Energy. Now, I am just getting all the bills and fees (over $200) from being without a service provider (unknowingly) for 3-4 months timeframe. Reliant has admitted their part on this. They accept provided unprofessional customer service during the whole ordeal and is not taking responsibility to aid me recoup from this unfortunate circumstance. E'er since I have been a customer of this visitor, I accept had serious problem. They offered a $600.00 bonus to switch electricity to them. I am not certain if I even received the first $300.00 of that bonus, but in fairness there was a month or two where I did not get a bill a year or so ago. And so I called and talked to someone, trying to get assistance figuring out why my payments went up $xxx.00 when I had a cheap plan and expected to pay effectually $30 or maybe $forty, I had besides received a billing for $145 for the month of July. I know it is hot in Texas where I live, just with the promised budged plan information technology is hard for me to pay that much more in 1 month.

My A/C sits on 78 degrees, which is hot and my dryer is natural gas, so my bill is commonly much lower than most people's. I was told that I had to pay the $145 amount first and then the second half of the bonus would be practical. This makes no sense at all. I had issues understanding the representative because of a very heavy accent and I had to ask several times to fifty-fifty go that explanation - and so what she told me did non make sense. And so now I am stuck in this contract and cannot go out because they will accuse $300 to cancel early.

If I do non pay, they will turn off the lights. I suffer from COPD and other wellness problems, I likewise try to alive on the small amount I receive monthly from Social Security. At that place is no aid available around here, so now I am ready to pull out my pilus worrying almost this bill. The contract runs out adjacent year and I am positive that I will switch companies. Never ever sign on with these people. Customer Service is apparently not run locally, so yous are calling overseas somewhere trying to talk to someone. I in one case made a fault and by payment was $3.00 curt and they threatened to turn off my electricity. I feel any visitor is amend and more than concerned than Reliant Energy.

Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I am on their autopay organisation and recently received a notice my payment didn't get through. I checked on the website, checked on the phone arrangement, and spoke with a client service agent who confirmed I had a aught remainder and my payment went through. However, I had for some reason been removed from autopay and the woman argued with me that I had never been in autopay despite my having months worth of bank statements proving otherwise. She said she could reinstate autopay, but couldn't guarantee I wouldn't end up paying twice for that month. She had no explanation for why I would get such a notification near my payment not going through, guaranteed multiple times everything was fine, etc...

Weeks laissez passer and I go an email saying my payment on the business relationship hasn't been received and I have a week to pay or my power will exist asunder. What?!?! There wasn't ever a betoken the coin was not in my bank account...this is ridiculous. And what kind of a heads up is that to someone (in the eye of summer, no less, with oestrus indexes over 108) if they actually don't have the coin and need to do some finagling to get it? I call customer service and tell the guy the dorsum story. Payment showed as paid online and via phone system, customer service guaranteed account was in good standing weeks ago. He doesn't care. Doesn't fifty-fifty await at the notes the previous person put in the arrangement well-nigh the payment being credited to my business relationship. He just tells me the 24-hour interval my ability is going to be shut off and that I demand to make a payment.

What else can I practice at this indicate? So I pay it again and become put back on autopay to try to avoid this in the future. The guy fumbles through reading me the autopay agreement, gets my card number wrong and tries to tell me payment rejected. I make him practise it once more and read the card to him slowly, making him repeat information technology back. It goes through. The he forgets to hang up his line and I get to hear his conversation with another call center worker virtually how this time of night is "decorated bro." Ugh...really...these people accept no idea what is going on with your account and are trained poorly. Their word ways nothing, they go strictly past what the screen in front of them says - right or wrong. Taking my business organization elsewhere.

A Reliant rep came to my firm, promised an bonny rate, and I agreed to hear him out. After showing a proficient rate, I asked him to mail or email the programme in writing, that I absolutely was not going to decide at that time. I signed nothing. Inside an hour I was hammered by emails from Reliant giving me new account info, and an email from my provider TXU saying my account was now closed, and I owed a $150 cancellation fee in addition to current charges. Afterwards 7 hours, I was told the "mistake" had been corrected, my service remains with TXU, no harm, no foul. Today, xi days later, I find zip has changed, my service remains with Reliant, and TXU just reiterates that I owe the counterfoil fee. I am contemplating finding if this tin can be cause for criminal fraud charges.

Paid a $l eolith and The next mean solar day was contacted stating they needed to verify my identity earlier starting service so I emailed the documents. I get another phone call stating there was an erstwhile account from iv yrs ago with a residuum of $66 that needed to be paid earlier I could start service.

Kickoff of all I had a prepaid account with them dorsum in 2015 that I cancelled because it was simply temporary to try the service out but we ended upwards choosing another provider so at present I'm trying to empathise why I accept a remainder from a prepaid account and now I'chiliad 3 supervisors later and no one tin can explicate to me why there is a remainder. Someone signed upwards for an account at my former address. I called and was able to cancel services, but they refused to say how someone was able to sign upward for services without my consent - only that in that location were "many ways" this could accept happened. When pressed they connected to state the same thing and were completely unhelpful.

They stated that "You chosen on June 3rd" merely refused to requite me the number I supposedly called from. They put me on concord several times clearly talking with a supervisor but provided no data that could help me determine how someone was able to commit fraud, impersonate me and sign up for services without my consent. I chosen my one-time apartment complex and they confirmed that they did not accept a new tenant. All of the above makes me suspect that someone inside their company used my data to sign me upward for an electricity plan illegally.

Also the website is purposely confusing in how they don't let you know when your contract is up but will send out a detect about if y'all desire to resign next twelvemonth ii months early. They at least could remind their customers that they aren't going to tell yous when your contract is up but volition charge yous the $150 fine if y'all suspension contract. I didn't know what I was missing until I left them and now my provider gives me weekly emails about my ability usage and bill interpretation, so I don't take to log into the site to find out. I called in to renew my electrical service contract and did for a new twelve month period. The agent asked if I had a domicile security system. I affirmed that I did and he told me that Reliant likewise has a home security division and were running specials. I agreed to talk with an agent. The agent assured me that the habitation security service and the electrical service were both provided past one company and that if I agreed to sign up for the security service it would be bundled with and a office of my electric services contract. I was quoted a fee of $39.99 a month for which I would receive a new touchscreen panel, a doorbell camera and one camera for the interior of the home. AND $15.00 a calendar month disbelieve for bundling with Reliant. I agreed, canceled my ADT account and eagerly awaited the arrival of the new organization.

The installer arrived at the appointed time and was admittedly the gold standard in what every homeowner would want. He was neat, nifty personality, competent and accomplished the task in a timely mode. But hither is where the rub starts. The installer had an iPad on which was displayed the details of the agreement. No paperwork that one can sit downwardly and read, simply the iPad which yous would take to take from the installer and roll through all the pages initialing or signing as needed. Awkard to say the least, and I did non exercise it. Then I become an email with the contracts (notice the plural) attached. Yes, there are two contracts and they are not bundled. The electric services contract is for the agreed on twelve-month flow but the second and carve up contract is for a thirty-six calendar month flow with none of the 'special' incentives detailed. Instead of the $39.99 quoted the contract is for $64.99 a month.

When I called to question this, I had to re-directly the chat several times to get the amanuensis on the same page, dealing with the upshot of ii different contracts at different rates than quoted. He bodacious me that all of the incentives would appear on my electric nib reducing the final fee to the agreed on terms but that their practice did not include putting that fact into the written contract. Now discover this. Retrieve the 12-month electric services contract I agreed to? Well, now those incentives that assure me of the quoted security monitoring fee are good only as long as I keep my electric service with Reliant, non for the twelve months but now for the thirty-six-month security contract. If not, then my security service goes to $64.99 a month for the remaining twenty-four months. AND, now I must take their best offering rather than beingness gratuitous to bargain for the best electric accuse.

In my opinion, this is a slick little maneuver that ensures you stay with Reliant or pay the cost. I am 70-ane years onetime and should have known ameliorate. Just the truth is that I am not as warning every bit I one time was, and failed to option upwardly on the fact that there are ii divide contracts and that one modifies the other. This also shall pass and I volition end my clan with Reliant for in one case and all. In the meantime, I will make every try to share my experience with Reliant Free energy and then others will non fall for the same spiel of one visitor, with one contract and incentives for bundling the electric and home security services.

I got nabbed at the aerodrome; fast talker, knew his lines perfectly--I should have known better; I was told I could still be on the budget programme with NRG. My first bill was fantastic, almost $100 lower than usual. Then the next two bills were more than double what I commonly pay. I called them and asked if I could be put on the budget plan; they said I had to call my electric company and they would be the ones to exercise this; I contact them, and was told that NRG should be the ones to exercise this.

And so I went to the NRG/Reliant website; there is a box for live chat. I wanted to conversation with someone to see if I were to abolish what the fee would be (if whatsoever). I couldn't get the chat box to open up or work. So I sent an email; the response I received was "The conversation feature is only for customers in the Texas area." That's flagrantly unprofessional to say the least. In the aforementioned email I was told at that place was no fee to cancel, but that NRG would nonetheless prove up on my side by side couple of bills. Now this month's neb is $100 higher still than my last bill! These people are dirty, underhanded, unprofessionals. Please don't get involved with them. If I could get out them a negative number of stars, I would.

Nobody else installed services there. I was too on boilerplate billing. They tell you lot when you lot sign up for average billing that the "deferred balance" is not an corporeality due. Nevertheless that's non the example. You owe the deferred balance. This left me with a whopping $363 fee for electricity charges. The way they lie to get you lot to sign upwardly for their "cracking promotions" is a joke.

Was approached by Reliant salesman in Sam's Club that said no contract to switch from who I was with already. That said they guaranteed that I would relieve coin. All lies. My offset and second electric bill was over 2 times higher than my previous electric bills were. Called them and told them that were fired and then they said I was under a contract. Exercise yourself a favor and stay away from this company that lies and makes guarantees that are false. Still fired them anyway. Their bills are outrageously high. Modernistic mean solar day thieves and crooks. Will never trust anyone from this visitor again.

Went shopping at Sam's Order. Two people from Reliant stopped us. Asking us, "Practice you want to save money on electricity." We said yep. Said to go with Reliant. Have no contract at all. We got our Bills and they were high. So called them and told united states we were in a contract. When nosotros signed up with them they said no contract. They are very unhonest. Very rude also. Never will get back once again.
